The Cape leads off the Journal with the first ever article on the First Canadian Contingent which arrived at Cape Town in late 1899 to join other British Empire troops in the Boer War.

Zululand, which featured in the recent 2020 Spink Auctions, had a short but fascinating history in the late 19th century and this led to much correspondence being sent locally and to other South African colonies as well as the United Kingdom. As a result there are many intriguing covers to be found and the one presented here, in a short article, displays some very curious markings.

For Natal, Keith Klugman and Roger Porter have joined forces and produced what may be termed the ‘definitive work’ on the 19th Century Registration Markings of Natal.
